Welcome to the tenth edition of Captain’s Corner for 2021.
Mixed Foursomes Championships
A wonderful field of 64 players completed the gruelling 27 holes of our Mixed Foursomes Championships. Adding more silverware to their overflowing cabinets were Life Member Karen Droop & Club Champ Baxter Droop with a fine gross score of 110. Well done also to Nett runners-up Damien Clifford & Chrissy Gilligan and Scratch runners-up Jay-Ar Martin & Louise Cross. Thanks to everyone who played in this year’s event, in particular those newer members.
October Medal & Pot Winners
Congratulations to our March Medallists Rob Zubin with 65nett on the Murray and Lou Scerri who’s 70nett pipped Andrew Skewes by a shot on the Lake course. Congrats also to Pot winners Bob Fiddes & Rod Carroll.
Summer Cup
The first of the matchplay rounds kicks off this Saturday with a number of interesting contests on the agenda. Winter Cup runners-up, and No.1 qualifiers Rob Ewart & Rob Dick will be hoping to go one better this time around but will firstly have to get past Rob Glare & Peter Taylor. Another intriguing battle looms as the father and son combination of Pete & Lachie Orr take on Brendon Lewis & Justin Lidgerwood. My early tip, and the Kiss of Death, is the in form pairing of Corny Boers & Geoff Gourley. Best of luck to all competitors.
Course News & Improvements
I’m happy to report that Stage 1 of the Lake course 15th hole redevelopment was completed yesterday when the last of the concrete cart path joining the 14th & 15th was poured. Members will have noticed that Stage 2, being the dam extension, wetlands, and beautification works are well underway. Once again, a special thank you to our talented ground-staff on the work they do for the benefit of us members.
Par 3 Day
I’m pleased to say that our Par 3 Day is back on the agenda for 2021. This popular event usually attracts a full field so members who want to play should get in quick as the field is limited. The timesheet will be opening shortly.
